Why We Started Revive in Style?

Revive in Style

There is a moment at the Goodwood Revival that gets me every year.
It is not the racing. It is not the cars. It is not even the incredible clothes. It is seeing thousands of people step into another world for a weekend.
People who, in everyday life, might never wear a double-breasted suit, a wide-brimmed hat or a beautiful 1950s dress suddenly find the confidence to do exactly that. And when they do, something changes. They stand a little taller.
They smile a little more. They become part of the story.

For years I watched people arrive at events like Goodwood wondering if they were dressed correctly, worrying they had not gone far enough, or believing that looking vintage required spending thousands of pounds. The truth is, it doesn't.
Vintage style has never been about money. It has always been about confidence. Some of the best-dressed people I have ever met built their look one piece at a time.
A jacket found at a market. A tie discovered in an antique shop.
A dress rescued from the back of a wardrobe. The magic has never been in the price tag. It has always been in the person wearing it.

That belief became one of the reasons we created Revive in Style.
We wanted to build a place where people could discover vintage without feeling intimidated by it. A place where someone taking their first steps into the world of vintage style could feel just as welcome as a lifelong collector.
Because vintage should be fun. It should be exciting. It should feel like treasure hunting.
Every piece we find has already lived a life before it reaches us. Someone chose it.
Wore it. Looked after it. Created memories in it.
Then somehow it survived.
And now it has the chance to do it all again.
There is something wonderfully sustainable about that.
In a world obsessed with the new, we are constantly amazed by the quality, craftsmanship and character found in clothing that was made decades ago. Many of these garments have already outlived the fashions that replaced them. That deserves celebrating.

Of course, Revive in Style is about more than clothing. It is also about a dream.

When Dot and I met, we quickly realised we shared many of the same passions.
Vintage style. Beautiful design. Craftsmanship. The thrill of finding something unusual and giving it a second chance. What started as a shared interest slowly became a shared vision. To build something of our own.
To spend our days creating rather than simply consuming. To work together, build something meaningful and create a life around the things we genuinely love.
The truth is, Revive in Style would not exist without Dot.
People often see the clothes, the photographs and the finished look, but behind all of it is someone with an incredible eye for style and an even greater gift for storytelling.
I have always admired her ability to see the romance in an object, a garment or a place. Where I might see a beautiful vintage dress, she sees the story that comes with it.
Where I focus on the details of an outfit, she brings the warmth and personality that make people connect with it.
She has a remarkable talent for turning collections of clothing into something that feels alive. In many ways, she is the glue that holds all of this together.
And if I am honest, she is the only person I would ever want to go on this journey with. Every exciting discovery, every early morning market, every late-night idea and every small victory means more because she is beside me.
Revive in Style is a reflection of our shared love for vintage, but it is also a reflection of the life we are building together.
I would not change either for the world. That journey continues every day.
It is also why I am so excited about our RIS Travel Cases.
To me, they are far more than a product. They are an accessory to the lifestyle we have fallen in love with. They sit perfectly alongside vintage clothing, classic cars, weekends away and all the little adventures that make life memorable.

The fact that a small business like ours has received such incredible support from In The Welsh Wind means a great deal to us.
Their belief in what we are creating helped turn an idea into something real, and for that we will always be grateful. Ultimately, our goal is simple.
We want Revive in Style to feel like a world you can step into.
A place filled with stories, inspiration, beautiful objects and wonderful clothing.
A place where discovering something special feels just as exciting as it did when we found it.
Whether you are preparing for Goodwood Revival, searching for your first vintage outfit, or simply looking for something with a little more character than the modern world often offers, we are delighted that you are here. This is only the beginning.

Gavin
